Randon Lee, 18, was killed in Prichard on Friday, Prichard Police Department Detective Jason Hadaway confirmed during a news conference on Monday. Lee, who would have turned 19 on Saturday, was the son of Ophelia Nichols, who runs the TikTok account “shoelover99″ and is known as “Mama Tot” by her nearly 7 million followers.

Hadaway said that Lee, along with a few suspects, drove to a station in Prichard, a suburb of Mobile, at about 8 p.m. CDT on June 24 with the intent of selling and distributing drugs, WALA-TV reported.

“We do know at this time that Mr. Lee did have a relationship as far as selling to different individuals,” Hadaway said during the news conference. “These two individuals had bought from him in the past.”

A suspect entered Lee’s vehicle and later shot him, Hadaway said.

The suspect then got into their vehicle and fled with the other suspects as Lee, who was wounded, drove to an Energize gas station across the street, AL.com reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news organization.

“We noticed on video that the suspect(s), and the victim pulled up at the pumps,” Hadaway told reporters, adding that there was surveillance video of the people suspected in the shooting. “The suspects in the black vehicle got inside the victim’s vehicle. We know there was one shot.”

“I have this hatred in my heart that I don’t recognize,” Nichols wrote in a TikTok post on Saturday. “Because I’ve never felt hate for anybody.”

Nichols went on Facebook on Tuesday to thank posters for their support and to talk about her son’s final hours, adding that “no one’s life should be taken over marijuana.”

“Please don’t think badly of my son for the circumstances of how he was taken,” Nichols wrote on Facebook. “We are not ashamed of him, and never will be.

“When I was 18, I made poor choices myself. I think of the person who did this to my son and have empathy for his family once they find out,” Nichols added. “Others may not think I should, but now there will be two families that are hurt and broken. It won’t just be mine.

“This person will be held accountable, I believe that. So I will hold my faith close and my family in times of despair. It’s all we have.”

No arrests have been made in the case, WALA reported.
