WHO to send team to China to investigate coronavirus origins

The World Health Organization is trying to discover how the coronavirus started and spread across the globe.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the WHO, said he is sending a team to China next week to find the answers, Reuters reported.

He made the announcement Monday during a briefing.

“The hard reality is this is not even close to being over,” Ghebreyesus said, adding that while many countries have been overcoming the virus, the pandemic is speeding up across the world.

“Knowing the source of the virus is very, very important ... We can fight the virus better if we know everything about the virus including how it started and we will be sending a team next week to China to prepare for that,” Ghebreyesus said.

Some have said the virus started in a lab in China, but the country has denied the allegations, Reuters reported.
