Attention all shoppers! Target has announced plans to introduce the option for customers to get a Starbucks order added to their contactless curbside pickup orders.
Target has long offered curbside pickup, which allows customers to place and pay for orders using the Target app, and then an employee brings the items out to the customer’s car. Now Target said it wants to add Starbucks orders to the service, as well as curbside returns, CNN reported.
In a news release, Target’s chief stores officer, Mark Schindele, said the new service is something customers have been asking for. “Our guests continue to tell us they love the ease and convenience of Drive Up, and they have been asking us to add even more of the Target experience to the service. Adding a Starbucks order and easy returns, while expanding our backup item options, will give guests even more of what they love about shopping at Target, quickly and easily.”
The test is expected to begin in the fall, but a list of what stores and markets will be testing out the different services was not made available, USA Today reported.
In a blog post announcing the new services, Target said the changes come without restrictions: “no pickup time window or membership fee required.”
Curbside pickup has been a positive for Target since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with same-day online services growing nearly 60% in the third quarter, CNBC reported. In a news release, Target said its digital business has more than doubled in the last two years, with order pickup, drive up, and same-day delivery with Shipt accounting for more than half of those sales.
Another feature Target said it is expanding is its “backup item” options for curbside pickups, offering customers the ability to choose a second choice if their first-choice item is unavailable, CNN reported.
