Listen to Volbeat's 'Metallica Blacklist' cover of "Don't Tread on Me"

The countdown to Metallica's massive Blacklist tribute compilation continues with Volbeat's version of "Don't Tread on Me."

The Danish rockers stay mostly true to the original's heavy groove while adding in a bit of their signature, swinging rockabilly style. You can download the cover now via digital outlets.

Along with Volbeat's Blacklist contribution, Metallica has also shared a funky mash-up of "Don't Tread on Me" and "Nothing Else Matters," recorded by French producer SebastiAn.

The 53-track Metallica Blacklist, which is being released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Metallica's 1991 Black Album, is due out September 10. It also includes the previously released cover of "Nothing Else Matters" featuring Miley Cyrus, Metallica's Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Elton John, guitarist/producer Andrew Watt and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

Meanwhile, Metallica is also prepping a 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of The Black Album, featuring a whole host of bonus tracks. That will arrive September 10, as well.

You can check out a newly released "Pre-Production Rehearsal" version of "Don't Tread on Me," plus the "Psycho Band Pass" early rough cut performance of "Enter Sandman," now via the Metallica YouTube channel.
