Fest Of Tails is a free kite festival and dog fair set for Saturday, March 12th from 10 AM – 4 PM at McAllister Park. In honor of our 15th year, we’re introducing “Tour de Tails,” a bicycle ride along the Salado Creek Greenway that ends at Fest Of Tails - begin at Lady Bird Johnson Trailhead (3 miles) or Hardberger Trailhead (10 miles) and cruise your way to McAllister Park with groups led by SATX Social Ride volunteers! ActivateSA and SA Babes On Bikes will be distributing trail maps and highlighting safety practices and trail etiquette. AT THE FEST: - Kite demonstrations and family kite flying - Pooch Parade and Costume Contest presented by H-E-B! Art in the Park: Micro Drawing 1PM FREE

Join us for an exercise in artistic observation and documentation! No Art Experience Necessary! Meet at the Outdoor Salado Classroom. Once gathered the class will walk around the east side of the park and find a spot to capture in watercolors. 50th Annual St. Louis Society Wild Game Dinner 5pm

It is that time of year again. For The 50th Annual St. Louis Society Wild Game Dinner is just around the corner. This year’s dinner is being held at 5pm on Saturday, March 12th, on the bank of the Medina River at Koenig Park in Castroville. The menu will consist of 11 items including BBQ Hog, fried catfish, chicken & dumplings, rabbit, venison chili, calf fries, and our famous salad bar. During the course of the evening, we will have a raffle, silent auction and live auction (which usually gets quite entertaining). The dinner will start at 5:00 pm and our auction usually begins around 7:00 pm, the majority of the proceeds from the dinner go to scholarships for our youth. Night Prowl: Wildlife at Dusk 630PM FREE

Join us for an educational guided hike led by Park Naturalist Jewell Lee Cozort and Education Coordinator David Jimenez. This hike will take place at dusk. Meet at the Urban Ecology Center. If you’ve ever wanted to explore the park in the dark and learn about what our wildlife does at night when they’re most active, this is a great opportunity. Learn about nocturnal wildlife in the park, such as bats, ringtails, and moths. If we’re lucky, we’ll see some in person! Registration is required. Health officials said there is not enough blood on hand to treat trauma cases and patients who need emergency surgeries and procedures. The facilities are open during daylight hours. San Antonio River Authority Battle of the Paddle 2022 - March 19, 2022 1pm-6pm at Helton Nature Park

The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority), together with the San Antonio River Foundation, is excited to launch the 2022 San Antonio River Basin Paddling Race Series. Experienced paddling racers from all over are invited to participate in 4 competitive paddling races throughout the year held along multiple sections of the beautiful San Antonio River Basin from the world-famous San Antonio River Walk to the historic community of Goliad. Each race covers a different distance and will provide new challenges certain to excite competitive paddle racers. The San Antonio River Basin Paddling Race Series was designed in the spirit of the Texas Water Safari, just on a smaller scale.
