Get ready to continue emptying your bank accounts, because yet another band has announced the release of a signature beer. This time, heavy metal icons Iron Maiden will attach their name to a brand of bubbly magic, as ‘Trooper’ ale is set to become available worldwide in May.
Beer and metal music share the tightest of bonds, and though that bond can manifest itself as a sweaty, obnoxious fan sloppily singing Maiden classics at a dive bar karaoke night, we assure you it’s still quite beautiful. Bands such as Motorhead, KISS, AC/DC, Municipal Waste and Pig Destroyer have all attached their names to specialty beer, and Maiden are the next to jump aboard with a traditional British-style ale.

‘Trooper’ ale is currently being crafted by Robinson’s brewery in Stockport, England, home of ‘Old Tom’ strong ale, which was recently named ‘World’s Best Beer’ by Beers of the World magazine. “I’m a lifelong fan of traditional English ale,” states Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. “I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavour and texture that is Trooper. I love it.”

Brew Master Oliver Robinson adds, “Not only do Iron Maiden genuinely enjoy a good pint of cask ale, but so do many of their fans, and they have an important part to play in our customer base.
