Green Day Rock 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, Book Intimate New York City Show

Green Day brought a new track to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last night (Sept. 6) when they performed the song, ‘Let Yourself Go’ in the middle of the audience. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV on the red carpet that he was going to “create some chaos” with their performance, and he did just that.
In the middle of Green Day’s performance of ‘Let Yourself Go,’ the band took an extended bridge, with Armstrong yelling, “Who wants to be on TV? Bring your asses in here, lets go!” In an occurrence that looked like something out of ‘Dawn of the Dead,’ the crowd converged on Green Day, with the only evidence that Armstrong was, in fact, still alive, being his voice continuing on until the song’s finish.

In other Green Day news, the band are set to play an intimate show at New York City’s Irving Plaza on Sept. 15 to kick off the launch of Nokia and AT&T’s ‘Nokia Music‘ streaming service, which will offer free and unlimited access to playlists and songs from a catalogue of 17 million tracks, including Green Day’s upcoming album ‘Uno!’ which will be released on Sept. 25.

Check out Green Day’s performance of ‘Let Yourself Go’ at the 2012 MTV VMA’s and check out the band’s Facebook page for more ‘Nokia Music’ info.
