In anticipation of the 20th anniversary deluxe rerelease of their debut album, members of Rage Against The Machine once again got the chance to answer questions regarding new material from the group – as they haven’t released anything since 2000′s covers album Renegades. While bassist Tim Commeford initially teased fans last month by saying “maybe” – and again this month with a “definitely maybe,” guitarist Tom Morello was a bit more assertive in a recent interview with Billboard.

Among the discussion of other subjects, Morello stated, quite plainly, that there are “no plans beyond” the rerelease of their self-titled album. Take that as you will, but it really seems that the band are ok with being inactive for the time being.

Further into the interview, the guitarist added: “20 years later we’re able to take pride in the fact that in the history of rock music there has never been a more popular band with as radical politics as Rage Against The Machine [...]. That is the lasting testament to the first shot fired by this album and how it continues to resonate with rebels around the world.”
