Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi Offers Update on His Current Health

Tony Iommi

Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist and hero to many, Tony Iommi, has just released an update on his current condition. As many of you already know, Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma shortly after the announcement that the original Black Sabbath members were to write a new album and embark on a world tour.
Having kept fairly quiet about his condition and choosing to continue recording the upcoming Sabbath album despite his illness, Iommi has reached out to his fans via his personal Facebook page to let them in on what he’s currently going through.

“Hiya,

A little update on how it’s all going:

Well, I’ve had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon, the steroids were the worse. I’ve now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I’m told can be very tiring so we’ll see.

A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most days and have some great new tracks.

And, importantly thanks again for your kind messages, hope to be seeing you soon.

- Tony
Little is known about the current progress of the upcoming Black Sabbath release, but Sharon Osbourne recently gave an update from the studio. “It’s going good. They’re doing really well in the studio. Gosh, they must’ve written 15 new songs already and it’s going great.”

Black Sabbath is still scheduled to play one show in the United States, which has yet to be officially announced. Whether or not original drummer Bill Ward will participate is still unknown.

Please join us in wishing Tony Iommi a speedy and complete recovery as he continues his rigorous cancer treatments. Leave your well wishes in the comment section below or send him a message on his personal Facebook page.

We love you Tony! Keep fighting. We know you can beat this!
