Alice Cooper Covers Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ at Bonnaroo 2012

Alice Cooper

As Saturday bled into Sunday at Bonnaroo 2012, Alice Cooper took the stage at midnight for a 90-minute performance that turned many heads. Having shocked and rocked his way around the world for nearly 45 years as Alice Cooper, the iconic frontman delivered one of the most jaw-dropping performances of his career at the festival, covering the Lady Gaga hit, ‘Born This Way.’
Alice Cooper has carved out a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career as one of the greatest frontmen in history. The shock rock pioneer has turned many heads in his time, and proved once again that he still has the power to stun a crowd as he blasted into a cover of ‘Born This Way.’ The altered mindsets of those watching Alice Cooper at Bonnaroo were certainly thinking, “I didn’t know this stuff was that strong,” but the sober ones in the crowd were probably questioning their own reality as Cooper began to sing the Gaga track.

The pleasantly surprising part of the story however, is that the cover wasn’t bad at all. Cooper and his band owned the song as they performed in the early morning, even bringing out a giant, Halloween-inspired Lady Gaga, which fans are calling “FrankenGaga.” The crowd rocked out to the cover along with Cooper and his band, as you can see in the pro-shot footage posted on Cooper’s official YouTube channel.

As Cooper prepares for his upcoming US tour with Iron Maiden, we can’t help but wonder whether or not the shock rock king will bust out the cover during his set.

[The Bonnaroo video is no longer available on YouTube. We will post if it becomes available. In the meantime, check out Alice Cooper's performance of ''Born This Way' from another recent show.]
