Serj Tankian, vocalist for System of a Down, recently announced his third solo album, ‘Harakiri,’ will be released July 10. Now, a teaser video for the first single ‘Figure It Out’ has been unveiled.

‘Figure It Out’ is an uptempo song with big hooks and melodic singing from Tankian, along with spoken-word vocals. The explicit lyrics aren’t radio-friendly, but a few bleeps or edits and this could easily be a big hit on rock airwaves.

The plot of the teaser video follows two thugs (one played by Tankian) that kidnap, torture and water-board an innocent mailbox. The interactive YouTube clip even lets the viewer choose an ending. A separate official music video will be released shortly.

Tankian’s previous solo albums were ‘Elect The Dead’ (2007) and ‘Imperfect Harmonies’ (2010). He describes ‘Harakiri’ as “much more driving and punk oriented with influences ranging from goth to electronic to ’80s vibes, dynamically heavy rock to epic melodic songs.”

Later this summer, System of a Down will be headlining several shows with support from Deftones. The August concerts also include the Heavy T.O. and Heavy MTL festivals in Canada.
