Soundgarden Offer Extended Version of ‘Live to Rise’ for Free on iTunes

Soundgarden are offering up an extended version of their new song ‘Live to Rise’ on iTunes at no charge for a limited time. Hurry, the clock is ticking.
Soundgarden fans will have to hold out just a little bit longer for their first new album since 1996′s ‘Down on the Upside,’ as it is now set for a fall 2012 release. However, their newest material has already been released and will appear ‘The Avengers’ soundtrack — that being their song ‘Live to Rise.’

The track, Soundgarden’s first entirely new release in almost 16 years, was actually recorded after completion of the upcoming new album — just weeks ago according to Chris Cornell. “[Live to Rise] was written so recently and recorded recently, like last week… I barely remember it it happened so fast,” Cornell told Los Angeles Radio Station KROQ upon the song’s debut.

‘Live to Rise’ has just hit iTunes in an extended format, which is available as a free download for a limited time — click HERE to get it. The new version has a longer intro with a brief counter-attack of the main riff by drummer Matt Cameron, as well as an extra measure of lead guitar madness from Kim Thayil.
