A teaser for "What You Want", the first single/video from EVANESCENCE's upcoming self-titled third album, can be seen below. The clip was filmed on July 30 on a makeshift stage inside a Brooklyn warehouse. The video was helmed by director Meiert Avis, who's made iconic clips for the likes of U2, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and BOB DYLAN.

"This video is sort of, like, the history of the band," EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee told MTV News. "This club [set] is emulating old shows we used to play in the beginning — we used to play this club called Vino's in Little Rock — it's sort of like back then, the gritty, dirty club, sweaty. And basically, it's also [about] New York, where I've been, [and] where [bassist] Tim [McCord] lived in the past few years since we've been gone. And it's sort of about escaping New York and ... coming back out into the world."

She added, "This is more a personal video. We've done a lot in the past that [were] very 'fantasy,' and this is sort of the real us. I just wanted to do something that really felt personal for a change. Obviously, I'm wearing crazy makeup, and that's not my everyday, but, you know, I want ... to connect with the fans again. We all do. We miss them. A lot of this record is about them, and that's why they're going to be here and be in it, too."

EVANESCENCE's new CD was recorded at Nashville's Blackbird Studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, VELVET REVOLVER, DEATH ANGEL, TRIVIUM). An October 11 release via Wind-Up Records is expected.

Lee began recording an album last year with producer Steve Lillywhite (DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, U2) that leaned heavily in the direction of electronic and dance music, but her label reportedly rejected that project and made her start from scratch on a more traditional EVANESCENCE offering.

EVANESCENCE played its first concert in almost two years on August 17 at War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The group performed four new songs from its upcoming self-titled third album, including first single "What You Want", which opened the show.

A five-year drought ended for EVANESCENCE fans on August 8 when the band performed its "What You Want" live on MTV, with the song also heading to rock radio and iTunes at the same time.

EVANESCENCE will kick off a 15-city North American run on October 10 in Oakland, California.

The current lineup of EVANESCENCE features guitarists Terry Balsamo and Troy McLawhorn, bassist Tim McCord and drummer Will Hunt in addition to singer Amy Lee. -blabbermouth.net
