GWAR Performs Unmasked In Tribute To Fallen Guitarist

As a tribute to their late guitarist Cory Smoot (a.k.a. Flattus Maximus), the remaining members of GWAR took off their costumes for some candid time with the fans during the band's November 9, 2011 concert in Portland, Oregon.

Fan-filmed video footage of GWAR playing the song"Maggots", followed by an impromptu tribute to Smoot, along with a performance of the classic song "Sick Of You", can be seen below.

Cory's obituary can be found HERE

Smoot joined GWAR in 2002 and first appeared on the band's 2004 album "War Party". He was the fifth guitarist to play the character of Flattus Maximus, known by his red face, white dreadlocks, dinosaur-head shoulder pads and reptile feet.

Born August 25, 1977, Smoot previously played in metal bands MISGUIDED and LOCUS FACTOR and continued to play with MENSREA, in addition to establishing his own solo project, THE CORY SMOOT EXPERIMENT.
