Foo Fighters Garage Tour Contest

Coming off a blistering performance at this year's SXSW, the Foo Fighters have some huge things planned for this April, in the run-up to the April 12 release of Wasting Light, their hotly anticipated new album.

Foo Fighters have announced plans to play songs from the new album in the garages of eight lucky fans in eight North American cities. They recorded in Dave Grohl's garage, so why not take that gritty garage energy to fans' houses directly?!

Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear have teamed with BlackBerry and local radio stations to create a once in a lifetime opportunity for the ultimate fan to host a Foo Fighters live performance in his or her actual garage for these eight dates only.

Fans who want a shot at making their garage one of the selected spots can either enter the contest directly by explaining, in 25 words or less, why they (and 50 of their friends) deserve to win  and then sending in a picture of their garage. For detailed  instructions go to www.foofightersgaragetour.com/contest. Listeners of local radio stations will also have a  chance to attend the garage show in their town.   BlackBerry is also  sponsoring a Concert Sweepstakes, in which winners will receive tickets to see the band in concert, an autographed copy of Wasting Light and more. For full details and additional prizes etc., visit www.foofightersgaragetour.com/sweepstakes

Foo Fighters new record Wasting Light, out April 12, 2011 on Roswell/RCA, was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohl's home in California's San Fernando Valley. Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, the no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band's 15-year-plus career: From  the opening one-two punch of "Bridge Burning" and lead single "Rope" to the beautifully bipolar "These Days" to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould ("Dear Rosemary") and Krist Novoselic ("I Should Have Known"), Wasting Light is a singular triumph: a band that has headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world class band's finest hour.
