Has it really been that long? 2011 will mark the 20th anniversary of grunge rockers Pearl Jam and they’ve got a whole lot planned. Today will see the release of “Live On Ten Legs,” and as the title suggests, it’s a live album culled from material spanning 2003 to 2010. In the spring, deluxe reissues of their albums “Vs.” and “Vitalogy” will hit store shelves but for us, the most interesting piece of anniversary-related material is a documentary helmed by one of our favorite directors.

”Pearl Jam Twenty” is a Cameron Crowe-directed documentary about the band that has been in the works for a couple of years now. Little is known about what exactly it contains, though it’s probably not wrong to assume that interviews with the band and live footage will be de rigueur. Back in 2009, guitarist Mike McCready said the director would have access to “....all our footage, with all of our existing footage that we have” which points to something fairly comprehensive. The director has been working closely with the band over the past little while, directing a Target commercial and the official video for the band’s 2009 single “The Fixer.” It’s also been revealed that the group’s frontman Eddie Vedder has figured prominently in the early soundtrack and script notes for Crowe’s next feature “We Bought A Zoo.”

No street date has been announced just yet for the film, but it is expected to arrive later in the year accompanied by a book and a soundtrack album. “We Bought A Zoo” will hit theaters on December 23rd. [Pearl Jam] -indiewire.com
