Shinedown frontman Brent Smith has relayed information on the bands new album via a series of tweets. Due to the limited amount of text available in each tweet, Smith’s comment spanned seven separate updates and read:

“When is Shinedown going to be touring again, and also when is the new album going to be released, so I am hear (sic) to tell you we are entering the studio on August 15 to start recording the new album

“We never put time limits on the writing of songs nor the recording of them because we are quite frankly perfectionist and it takes time. With that being said, we have decided to not book any shows for the remainder of the year to concentrate all our attention on the making of the new record.

“Our goal is to be touring again by late February of next year 2012. We will most likely start in the U.K. and Europe and work our way back to the States, and other wonderful countries will follow…

“Again, none of this aside from the start date for recording is set in stone, but I hope this sheds some light on the situation… no pun intended.

“We love and miss all of you so much. We will see you soon. I promise we won’t let you down and it will all be worth the wait.”

Although Smith has previously said that much of the writing has been done for the new record already, fans shouldn’t expect to hear the fruits of Shinedown’s labours too soon as guitarist Zach Myers told Gibson.com recently the process can be lengthy for them:

“We aren’t a band that goes into the studio and makes a record in six weeks. ‘The Sound Of Madness’ took 24 months to write. Brent has this weird thing when we’re writing, we go into the studio, and there are no clocks around; there are no calendars on the wall. He doesn’t like to have a time limit on being creative.”

Myers spoke of the difficulty in making a follow up to the Sound of Madness during a Q&A Session for Fret 12 at the end of last year. -blabbermouth.net
