Among the more promising projects set for release next year is the follow-up solo album from Slash. Where his first outing featured an array of incredible vocalists, his new album will feature just one.
Slash employed the Santana approach when making his last album, drafting M. Shadows, Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne, Kid Rock, and others to sing on his debut solo album. The top-hatted one is taking a different approach on his new solo album by recording with just one vocalist — Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy.

Myles appeared on two of the tracks from the solo album and served as Slash’s touring vocalist as well. Kennedy will not be the only constant this time around — Slash is using his touring drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns to fill out the line-up. Myles Kennedy played a much larger role in the guitar sound of Alter Bridge on their last album ‘ABIII’ and will also play rhythm on the new Slash record.

With all the set pieces in place the album will most likely feel more like an album than just a collection of songs — the only downside to it’s predecessor. We’d be surprised if it is released under the name Slash as oppose to the group adopting a name — this one seems to be much more of a collaborative effort than a mere solo album. Early reports from within camp Slash have teased an aggressive, dynamic record featuring dark riffs and song titles like ‘Bad Rain,’ ‘Halo,’ and ‘Standing in the Sun.’ The album has been projected for a Spring 2012 release and appears to be on track to meet that goal.
