During the three years that The White Stripes have been inactive, many rabid fans haven't taken well to Jack White's other projects. Now these folks haven't been left completely in the dark, as they got a very nice live album/documentary, a bunch of rereleases via Jack's Third Man Records, and a bunch of slightly useless (almost KISS-esque) merch. But of course, what they all really crave is a full-on reunion of the band, as well as a new record. Well, there's some good news...

In this month's edition of Vanity Fair, Mr. White was interviewed for the promotion of a Stripes-centric box set (featuring a record player, headphones, and cases to insert your purchases of rereleased vinyl). A Third Man Records version is also available at the same price.

At the end of the interview, when asked about the Stripes vinyl reissues coming, he drops a bomb:

"We thought we'd do a lot of things that we'd never done: a full tour of Canada, a documentary, coffee-table book, live album, a boxed set. It was one long project that took almost three years. Now that we've gotten a lot of that out of our system, Meg and I can get back in the studio and start fresh."

White's been silent about a White Stripes reunion for quite a while now, but the timing seems perfect. His Dead Weather bandmates Dean Fertita and Alison Mosshart are busy working on new albums, while the rhythm section for The Raconteurs, Jack Lawrence & Patrick Keeler, finally returned to The Greenhornes, having just released their long-awaited fourth album.-antiquiet.com
