Puddle of Mudd have announced that their longtime bassist, Doug Ardito, has left the group. Ardito joined the band in 1999 and offered his support not only as a bassist, but also as a songwriter.

"It's been a great 9 years of rocking the music of Puddle of Mudd with Doug. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors," frontman Wes Scantlin said in a statement.

Puddle of Mudd, who are currently touring in support of their album Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love and Hate, will replace Ardito with Damien Starkey, a friend of the band. Starkey will join the band for the remainder of its summer concert engagements and until a new bassist is found.

Puddle of Mudd will next be performing as part of the Carnival of Madness tour with Shinedown, Sevendust, 10 Years and Chevelle. The tour kicks off on July 16 in Jacksonville, Florida.
