The Pulse of Radio reports: Although KORNitself has not announced a new recording contract, singer Jonathan Davis has apparently signed a solo deal with the Warner Music Group. Davis makes a guest appearance on the new album from ex-FAITH NO MORE frontman Chuck Mosley, and he's listed as appearing "courtesy of Warner Bros. Records." A management spokesperson confirmed the deal to HardDrive Radio.
Davis has been working on his debut solo album for months, with plans to release it later this year or early in 2010. He told The Pulse of Radio that he has high hopes for his first solo effort. "I want the record to be the most amazing record I could possibly put out. I want all songs to be amazing and different. I want it to be really a very artistic, crazy album that no one's ever heard before. 'Cause it's very world music-y and dark, heavy, PETER GABRIEL-esque type music and I want all the songs to be different, and nothing like KORN."
The Mosley song that Davis cameos on, called "The Enabler", also features ROB ZOMBIEguitarist John 5. The track is taken from Mosley's first solo album, titled "Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food", due out on August 11.
KORN has been working on its ninth studio album recently, with plans to issue the CD sometime early next year. The band is without a record deal since finishing out its two-album contract with EMI Music in 2007.
The group began streaming a video teaser for its upcoming album at MySpace, showing Davis at work in the studio on new songs.
KORN will begin a string of U.S. dates on July 18 in Milwaukee.
