Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo was injured after his tour bus hit a patch of ice in Upstate New York and crashed into a ditch. Cuomo suffered three cracked ribs and a lower leg injury, along with some "painful internal damage."

Karl Koch, a friend of the band who was traveling on another bus, wrote on Weezer's website, "I couldn't believe what was happening in front of me, as Rivers lay so helpless, shivering in the center of the chaos."

Emergency responders had to use the Jaws of Life to pry Cuomo from the wreck, but "he is resting about as comfortably as could be expected now," according to Koch.

Cuomo's assistant, Sarah Kim, was also injured, fracturing a lower vertebrae and two ribs. The other four passengers on the bus, which included Cuomo's wife and daughter, were uninjured.

The band was on its way from a show in Toronto to a show in Boston when the incident occurred. The band has since canceled the Boston show, which was scheduled for tonight. They have also canceled a show in Washington, D.C., on December 9 and a show in Camden, New Jersey, on December 10.

There is no word yet on when Weezer will return to the stage, though the band is scheduled to kick off another leg of its Ratitude tour in San Francisco on January 9.
