Here comes Santa Claus ... and we know where and when

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) continues the tradition this year of tracking Santa's sled as he delivers toys to kids all over the world on Christmas Eve.

The tradition has come a long way since it started in 1955, with Google Earth letting us virtually follow Santa Claus and his flying reindeer.

You might think that shining all that technology on Rudolph and his buddies would take away the mystery and prove that reindeer don't really know how to fly. But NORAD's Santa website says otherwise:

"We know from our Santa cam images that Santa’s choice for quick transportation was a herd of flying reindeer. Detailed information on these reindeer remains elusive; however, we do know, that Santa enlisted the reindeer to help him with his worldwide mission of gift-giving. A veil of sweet mystery hides the rest."

Stand by for this year's journey and watch a recording of last year's Santa tracker; check out all the special features, including a Christmas Eve countdown clock, on NORAD's Santa website. It's a cool site for kids!
