The historic Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park is an extremely beautiful and popular destination for both San Antonio visitors and natives. Many come to experience the tranquility and beauty of the gardens, as well as to purchase tickets for scheduled concerts in the Sunken Garden Theater that add great music to the serene setting.
The Japanese Tea Garden was built in 1918 and, over the years, has steadily grown from a single lilly pond into a beautiful garden complete with pagoda, torii gate, a small cafe, and dozens of varieties of plants and trees. The Sunken Garden Theatre was built in 2004 and has since scheduled mostly local musicians that add another layer of ambience to this already popular destination.
The San Antonio Japanese Tea Garden provides a sanctuary of natural beauty that, when combined with scheduled performances in the Sunken Garden Theater, make it the ideal place for a moment of rest and relaxation.
The American Red Cross is helping people in the Midwest with shelter, food, relief supplies and emotional comfort after tornadoes over the weekend destroyed homes and left thousands without power.
