Est. 2011 by S.M.A.R.T. 501ce Pie to the People is a free annual art education event in Historic La Villita in downtown San Antonio. Artists and arts supporters converge on Maverick Plaza after an art procession, where S.M.A.R.T. dishes out 3,000 slices of FREE pie to the people. Pie to the People educates the public about the diversity of arts programming in our city, the economic impact of arts in our communities and creates a forum where educational art activities can be interactive. A day full of professionally led art education workshops, student design competition, collaborative community art project, we showcase city nonprofits and their programming, and fill the atmosphere with live painting and performance along with a full line-up of music. La Villita tenants participate by staying open late and sharing workshops and artists with the public.
