New this year, along with our regular small business curriculum, Generations will be hosting a new eight-week boot camp designed to empower small business owners. Its targeted curriculum will focus on the following...Session 1: Small Biz Overview Thursday, February 7 A broad survey of opportunities and considerations potential small business owners should explore prior to forming. Participants will gain an understanding of how to research for business-relevant data, trends and consumer statistics; business types and formations; and where to find help along the way.Session 2: The Business Plan Thursday, February 21 A must for any new small business. During this session, participants will learn how to create a detailed plan that will serve as a guide for starting and navigating their businesses over the next few years. In addition, participants will learn how to utilize their business plan to generate interest and acquire capital.Session 3: Financials and Projections Thursday, February 28 Make sense of business financials by getting a grasp on finances. Participants will learn how to read an income statement and balance sheet, develop a cash flow and breakeven analysis, and improve their financial management skills to start and grow their businesses. Session 4: Entity Formation Thursday, March 28 Knowing what type of business structure you best fit into will help protect your personal assets and drive your income tax liabilities and long-term capital requirements. In this session, participants will learn about the different types of business structures, how to identify which is best, and how to go about forming their businesses.   Session 5: Becoming Loan Ready Thursday, May 2 Prior to obtaining a loan from a financial institution, it is important to be “Loan Ready.”  Participants will see what types of financing is available, what lender’s need in order to evaluate their applications effectively, and what information they need to have before, during and after submitting a loan request.A $40 fee is required to attend all five sessions.
