On February 8, 2013, the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence (MCDP) Congregation will host their annual Benitia Humanitarian Award Dinner. The award is presented to an individual or organization who, through their humanitarian work, exemplifies God’s mercy, compassion, joy and love. The honoree this year is Father Martin “Marty” Elsner, SJ. Father Marty has been involved with numerous organizations such as Communities Organized for Public Service (COPS), The Metropolitan Organization (TMO), and Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (TCADP). He was blessing priest for the murals of San Anto Cultural Arts. A Jesuit priest for 50 years, Father Marty is presently on staff as Spiritual Director at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio. A teacher by profession, his heart has always gone beyond the classroom, walking alongside the disenfranchised and forgotten. Always with a smile on his face, Father encourages us, prays for and with his people, and inspires many. Father’s humanitarian efforts have brought relief, improved lives, and given hope to many in need. Call 210-432-0113 or email kbranson@mcdp.org for ticket price and sponsorship information.
