In celebration of Family History Month, The San Antonio Genealogical & Historical Society will present it's annual Fall Genealogy Seminar on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the John Calvin Presbyterian Church 8102 Midcrown at Walzem in NE San Antonio. Registration begins at 8:30 am and presentations run from 9 am - 4 pm. Featured speaker for the all day event will be Christine Rose, CG, CGL, FASG. Christine is a well known national lecturer with varied and extensive experience. She is a recipient of the prestigious Donald Line Jacobus award, and was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists, an honor bestowed by peers based on the quantity and quality of published work and limited to 50 at any one time. She was the recipient of the Association of Professional Genealogists Professional Achievement Award in 2010 and the same year received the Lloyd D. Bockstruck Distinguished Service Award. She is a Trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists. She has served on the faculty of the Institute of Genealogical Research, Washington DC, and as an Instructor and Coordinator of Samford University's Institute of Historical and Genealogical Research. She has authored 15 books and co-authored The complete Idiot's Guide to Genealogy. Her specialties are onsite courthouse and archival research, military records and federal land records. Christine's Seminar topics are: 1) Genealogical Proof Standard, 2) Rites of Inheritance, 3) Bounty Land and 4) Leaping to Erroneous Conclusions. The annual event is a fund raiser for the 53 year old Society’s 17,000 volume research Library. Seminar fee ($50 until Oct 6th, $55 after and at the door (includes Syllabus and lunch) There will be vendors and door prizes.
